The key to understanding The Folk Traditions Store is the idea of balance. Ever since humans began to divide their work into specialties, music has been a primary source of the balance that enabled communities to grow harmoniously.

Flutes and harps are special instruments. There is a level of intimacy and commitment between a musician and a flute or a harp that transcends most objects in the lives of people. The instruments are held close, many times per week to aid in the expression of a great range of emotions. We believe that the selection of a flute or harp is a highly personal experience. It would be a mistake to attempt to select an instrument without seeing, hearing and touching it. Though there are general principles for quality construction, it is especially true of individually crafted wooden instruments that no one will have exactly the same reaction to an instrument as you. This is why we provide a variety of instruments for you to experience.

On our music pages, find descriptions of our flutes, harps, sheet music, instructional materials and accessories. Come to our store to see them, hear them and touch them.

Preserve a tradition. Grow roots, significance, harmony and balance.
