The Folk Traditions Store made a commitment to Banjos when we found a superb banjo teacher for our store's customers. The teacher is Mike Telzrow, new Director of Research and Interpretation at the Might Eighth Air Force Heritage Museum. He has played Bluegrass and Clawhammer styles for 24 years, taught banjo at Stype Brothers Banjo Shop, Hollywood, Fl during the 1980s, and played in Southern Florida bluegrass bands including South Ocean String Band whose Makin' Waves was reviewed in Nov. 1986, Bluegrass Unlimited.
Our prime line of resonator banjos are the Goldstar GF series. This reissue of a very popular 1980s banjos has received top reviews. The GF-85, GF-100F (flying eagle) and GF-100W (wreath) list for $1695 with case. The Folk Traditions Store price is $1295 including shipping. That's barely over the price people are getting for used 20-year old models. For the budget minded player, we also sell the popular, Saga and Deering Goodtime Banjos and stock both open back and resonator versions. We stock Saga SS-10 aluminum rim, open back, Rover RB-40 rosewood rim open back, and Saga SS-3 resonator banjos. A Gold Star resonator, open back and travel banjos are available. |
